At Elmer Day Sober Living, guests are expected to uphold a standard of responsibility and accountability. This includes maintaining the cleanliness of their personal living space and contributing to the upkeep of the house by completing a daily assigned chore. Guests are also required to attend a minimum of three recovery meetings per week to support their ongoing sobriety and personal growth.
Additionally, guests are responsible for purchasing and preparing their own meals. We foster an environment of mutual respect, responsibility, and productivity. By adhering to these expectations, you will find yourself well-suited to the supportive and structured community we offer at Elmer Day Sober Living.
Elmer Day Sober Living currently operates four recovery homes, all situated in the heart of downtown Riverside. At present, we offer three homes dedicated to men and one home that serves individuals from the LGBTQ+ community. We are actively working toward expanding our services with the planned addition of a women’s home in the near future, as part of our continued commitment to providing safe, supportive, and inclusive sober living environments for all.
At Elmer Day Sober Living, we strive to make the intake process smooth, welcoming, and respectful for every new guest. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a team member and guided through the following steps:

We recommend bringing clothing, toiletries, medications (if applicable), and a few personal items that help you feel comfortable. Each of our homes is fully furnished and thoughtfully designed, so everything you need for day-to-day living is already provided.
To maintain a clean, organized, and elevated living environment, we ask that residents keep personal belongings minimal. Each resident is provided with a dresser and limited closet space, so a reasonable amount of clothing and a few pairs of shoes is ideal.
We primarily partner with three trusted Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs in the area: Rustin, MFI, and Solid Ground. Each of these programs offers strong clinical support and a structured path for continued recovery.
Depending on your individual needs, schedule, and which home you are located in, we will help determine which IOP program is the best fit for you. Our goal is to make sure you’re placed in a program that supports your recovery while aligning with your lifestyle and level of care.
